Instructions on sleeving lines:

Sleeving Image 1
Make sure all sleeving to be used is of the same exact length. I usually make my sleeving 18".
Note: Once my termination loop is tied it then provides a large enough loop
to handle the line and larkshead while wearing light gloves in colder weather.

Sleeving Image 2
Melt ends of sleeving with lighter.
This keeps the braid from unravelling.
Sleeving Image 3
Insert Sleeving Needle into braid of Sleeving
(about 1/4" from end on the Sleeving)

Sleeving Image 4
Start to push the Sleeving onto the
Sleeving Needle.
Sleeving Image 5
Compress the Sleeving onto the
Sleeving Needle.

Sleeving Image 6
Make sure that the needle does not
come out of the side of the braid .
Sleeving Image 7
Continue to push the Sleeving onto the Sleeving Needle until the end of the
Needle is exposed.

Sleeving Image 8
You are not ready to sleeve your flying line.
Sleeving Image 9
Insert Flying line (Spectra) into the exposed
end of the Sleeving Needle.

Sleeving Image 10
Make sure that about a halk inch of line is
folded back away from the end of the
Sleeving Needle.
Sleeving Image 11
Start to pull in the far end of the Sleeving
Needle, while pushing the Sleeving onto
the Flying Line.

Sleeving Image 12
Continue to push the Sleeving onto the
Flying Line...
Sleeving Image 13
Until at least 1" of Flying Line is exposed.
REMOVE the Flying Line fro the end of the Sleeving Needle.

Sleeving Image 14
Melt exposed end of the flying line using a lighter. Push and /or pull the sleeving and line until the exposed end of the Flying Line is even with the end of the Sleeving. Pull sleeving to tighten the Sleeving onto the Flying Line. Fold Sleeving in nearly in half, as shown.
Sleeving Image 15
Tie an over hand knot near the two ends , forming a loop, as shown.

Sleeving Image 16
Tie one more over hand knot, as shown.
Sleeving Image 17
Your line is now sleeved. PROCEED to other end of line , and repeat the process to complete your line set.

No-Knot Line Splicing

Want to know how to Splice your lines, a.k.a. join one line to another,
or make a repair on damaged kite line(s), or terminate your kite line(s)
without using sleeving?

No-Knot splicing can be accomplished with both Spectra and Dacron
hollow braided line, as long as these lines were manufacturered with a
braiding meant for splicing. Both our WSK Premium Spectra and our
Dacron can be No-Knot Spliced.

Diameters of Spectra 1000 Line (approximate)

History and Info about Spectra Line

WSK PREMIUM SPECTRA Desired Characteristics:
Exceptionally low stretch: tightly woven braid structure to minimize stretch.
Small diameter, reduced weight: braided from 100% Spectra® fiber, made with finer dinier fibers than other braided Spectra lines. The result is a small diameter kite line with up to a 30% weight reduction compared to other Spectra lines. The thin profile is more aerodynamically efficient, and the lighter weight yields better speed and reduced drag.
Reduced friction on wrapped lines, better wear: increased abrasion resistance, and lower the friction between wrapped lines.
High quality kite lines at affordable prices!

VERY IMPORTANT... Please fly safely!
Please visit our page on Kite Safety, and feel free to download and print a copy of our FREE "Kite Safety Field Card". Within the "Kite Safety Field Card" you will also find a section on "Line Safety".

Most people (fliers and spectators alike) do not realize that different types of flying lines are NOT capable with one another. Please pay particular attention when flying Sport Kites around single line kites. Make certain so that your flying line does not come in contact with single line kite lines (Dacron or even cotton line from inexpensive kid's kites). For more info on this please see the
"Kite Safety Field Card".
