Polyester/Nylon Double Braid 1/4"Line 600' Spool shown (special order only) 300' available

NEED LINE FOR YOUR BIG KITES? Double Braid Composite Polyester/Nylon lines sold by Windstar Kite feature a Double Braid Becket Splice that form "Soft Eyes" on each end of the spool. See photo to left! With a Becket splice, very little strength of the line is lost, because you are not tieing a knot in the line to form your loop for attaching to the kite. The line is ready to Larkshead to your favorite BIG KITE! As compared to competitors BIG KITES line... For the same size diameter line, this line is lighter in weight and 1 1/2 times stronger than some of my competitors lines for the BIG Kites. Plus it's ready to fly with the Soft Eyes already spliced on the ends of the line!

HEAVY DUTY Composite Double Braid Line is available from 1/4" to 1-1/4" via special order! Excellent resistance to chemicals, sunlight and normal abrasion. Not used just for BIG Kites, this line also works great with high force pulling equipment. All diameters are available in 300',600' and 1,200' lengths.

History and info about Dacron.
Dacron® fiber (Trade Mark of DuPont) (Background)
The polymer that became polyester has roots in the 1929 writings of Wallace Carothers. However, DuPont chose to concentrate on the more promising nylon research. When DuPont resumed its polyester research, ICI had patented Terylene polyester, to which DuPont purchased the U.S. rights in 1945 for further development. In 1950 a pilot plant at the Seaford, Delaware, facility produced Dacron® fiber with modified nylon technology. DuPont opened its huge Kinston, North Carolina, plant in 1953 to produce Dacron®.

What is Dacron?
Dacron: trademark for a polyester fiber. Dacron is a condensation polymer obtained from ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid. Its properties include high tensile strength, high resistance to stretching, both wet and dry, and good resistance to degradation by chemical bleaches and to abrasion. The continuous filament yarn is used in curtains, dress fabrics, high-pressure fire hoses, men's shirts, and thread. The staple fiber is ideal for mixing with wool in men's and women's suits, as well as in dress fabrics, knitted wear, and washable woven sportswear.
