ORIGINAL 8' "Le Frog", Jim Rowlands most successful product was nominated as best new kite for 1996 by members of KTAI. Just tug on the line and watch it jump! Although it can be staked off or pole flown, this fun kite is great to be hand flown, and is sought out by collectors.

Staking (anchoring the kite) the LeFrog in PERFECT CONDITIONS:
When the wind conditions are perfect at a steady 10 - 15 mph and without the wind switching direction, these kites can be staked off, and will stay in flight on their own, without the assistance of a lifter kite. However, not everyone lives near a beach with such perfect wind conditions, and most of us live inland, were we may experience gusty wind conditions, or wind that keeps changing direction. This is where a lifter kite comes in handy…

Staking the LeFrog (USING A LIFTER KITE)
in LESS THAN PERFECT CONDITIONS:
A "lifter kite", as the name implies is flown on the same line as the kite to be lifted. The "lifter" is flown on the end on the kite line, with the kite to be lifted attached at a lower point on the main line. Simply attach the LeFrog along the main line, using a short leader line (leader can measure anywhere from 10 - 20 foot in length).

These lifter kites are more stable fliers, and fly at a higher angle of attack, than the LeFrog kites, and therefore are able to help keep the LeFrog higher in the sky during those times when the winds are not idea. So when there is not quite enough wind for the LeFrog, it can still remain in the air, as the lifter supports it.
